Broken Trains — Multimedia Performance by Bruce Bayard

Broken Trains

Bruce Bayard, a visual artist turned multimedia performer, has been exploring the merger of time-based image collage with improvised electronic soundscapes. Broken Trains is an audio visual collage featuring the rhythmic sight and sounds of trains, clouds, trees and shadows. Bruce pairs these images with live soundtrack performed from the rafters on Buchla, an early synthesizer.

His two dimensional work has been exhibited at solo and group exhibits in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Minneapolis. He has had a solo exhibition at the Schneider Museum of Art and also co-created an installation there called Juggernaut in 1994.

His multimedia interdisciplinary work has included collaborations with Todd Barton, Suzee Grilley, Christine Williams, Terry Longshore, Michael Maag, Lawson Inada, David Bithell and Jonah Bornstein.  He presented the film “Elegies” at the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and produced dozens of multimedia events in Ashland Oregon.
